China Publishes Almanac on Human RightsChina's first yearbook on its human rights history has been published by the Contemporary World Publishing House.The yearbook consists of seven parts: the history of human rights, laws and regulations, important documents, human rights agencies, status of human rights, theoretic studies and international exchanges. Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen wrote the title for the book and served as its general advisor. The book provides an objective account of the achievements of the Chinese people in their struggle for human rights, and elaborates on China's basic stand and views on human rights issues. Over 140 of China's laws and regulations on human rights, 11 human rights white papers issued by the Information Office of the State Council and remarks on human rights by the three generations of Chinese leaders are also contained in the yearbook. The book provides a comprehensive and reliable source of facts and theoretical guidelines on human rights to those who are interested in the country's human rights. The book also offers forceful facts and a theoretical basis for people to fight against the attacks on and distortion of China's human rights status by international hostile forces.
