Zhang Faces Challenge in China PGA ChallengeTwo top Chinese golfers Zhang Lianwei and Liang Wenchong will square off in the Ericsson China PGA Challenge, which starts on Monday. At stake in the tournament is the Best Chinese Golfer reputation, to which Zhang, who won the silver at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games, and Liang, the No. 1-ranked golfer in China by the China Golf Association, are both trying to lay claim. Without any proven track of records in the major international events, Liang seems to be more motivated in the hunting for the title of the two-ground 36-hole event kicking off tomorrow in the newly constructed Nansha golf club. About 50 golfers, among whom more than 20 are females, will compete in Monday's first of the four-leg Ericsson CPGA Challenge, which also includes Macao of China, Shanghai and Beijing. |
