Sandstorm to Affect Yangtze River Area

The strong, cold air dominating Beijing right now will left north China on the evening of April 9 and moved south to the Yangtze River area, China's Central Meteorological Station reported.

According to meteorologists, the sandstorm which blasted Beijing two days ago has moved to parts of Hebei and Liaoning provinces, which are suffering fresh breeze to moderate gale. However, thanks to last night's light snow in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the northern area of Hebei Province, the sandstorm in Beijing is subsiding.

But the sandstorm in part of Gansu, Shaanxi, Ningxia and Inner Mongolia shows no sign of letting up, the experts noted. With the coming cold air, areas downstream of the Yellow River will experience strong gale winds and sandstorms in the next few days. Light to moderate rain will fall on southern China. The experts also predicted that another cold air current will hit northern China on April 12 or 13.
