Zhouzhuang Village, a rising tourism destination within the city of Kunshan in east China's Jiangsu Province, is the focus of a three-day international tourism and cultural festival which opened on April 9.
Zhouzhuang is renowned for its extensive protection of large number of cultural relics belonging to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, its simple customs, and picturesque scenery.
Festival-goers will have opportunities to see the town via selected routes and watch demonstrations of folk arts such as shoemaking, bamboo weaving, spinning, paper-cutting and embroidery. A parade and fashion show are also on the agenda.
A film competition will be held during the festival, which is co-sponsored by the National Tourism Administration, Suzhou City Tourism Bureau and Kunshan City Government.
