Yan Jingming, an official in charge of the Shanghai Jiai Genetics and IVF Institute - China-U.S. Center, said that large stocks of sperm at the Center comes from local college students.
Yan said, the center has so far helped more than 400 couples have their babies. The Center now has over 400 sterile women waiting for fertilization. The Center started to collect sperm at local universities and colleges in January this year.
Feng Yuan, a student from the News Department of the Fudan University, said that "There is no difference between donating blood and sperm."
The Center has given birth to 100 test tube babies, including 50 boys and 50 girls.
