President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Li Tieying on April 7 visited the Legend Group, seeking technological help from the computer giant for the academy's computer network construction.
China must push ahead with the computerization of scientific information, said Li, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee.
Chinese social scientists face the challenges of extensive social changes and practical problems in the new century, Li said. Researchers can no longer use primitive methods for social scientific studies when high-technology prevails, he said. Li urged his colleagues to use state-of-the-art technologies, including the Internet, for their academic work.
CASS authorities said that they have invested more than 20 million yuan (about 2.41 million US dollars) for the construction of the CASS network.
