Chinese ISP Drastically Cuts Internet Fees263 capital Online, China's second largest Internet access provider (ISP), said it will launch two new Internet cards on April 8 which will reduce Internet fees drastically.The two cards will enable cardholders to surf the Internet and cost 66 yuan and 99 yuan respectively. Prices could be further reduced to 48 yuan and 78 yuan if the cardholders use the card for more than one month. The cheaper card, called "carefree card", allows buyers to surf via the company's own server, and the other, "maneuvering card", provides users free choices among other ISPs. At present, such a service costs 158 yuan a month, which has already dropped substantially from 198 yuan earlier this year. Ordinary dial-up services charged six yuan per hour. Chinese Internet users have long complained about high fees and the time delays to access the Internet, but local analysts believe the new round of fee cuts will attract a huge amount of customers. Capital Online is a leading ISP which also engages in Internet content provider (ICP) business. About three million people in China surf the Net via the company's server, thanks to the continued fee cuts by the company. Zhang Daqing, general manager of the company, said 263 capital Online is increasing equipment and facilities in preparation for a huge inflow of surfer. |
