China's Largest PC Manufacturer ReorganizesChina's largest personal computer (PC) manufacturer, the Legend Group, will make a major restructuring by dividing its business operations into two new companies.According to the reorganization plan, announced Wednesday, one of the two companies will focus on PC and information products, while the other, titled to be called Legend Shenzhou Digital Co., Ltd. will be wholly engaged in Internet-based services and products for e-commerce. Yang Yuanqing and Guo Wei, the heads of the two new companies, are both in their 30s, and each has about 10 years of experience in their respectively field. Liu Chuanzhi, president of Legend, said that his company should have more than one brand on the market, although Legend has already become a famous brand. While continuing its traditional PC business, the company needs another team to develop e-commerce-centered network products, and this team is the Legend Shenzhou Digital Co., Ltd., said Liu. Specialists say that this restructuring means the PC giant has began its march into the increasingly hot fields of the Internet and e-commerce. |
