World's Biggest Chinese Book Website Launched

A new website claiming to be the world's biggest for Chinese books has been launched by several Chinese students studying in Silicon Valley in California in the United States.

The site, called Bookoo, differs from similar sites in that it will sign contracts with writers and publish their books on-line. By paying the authors, the Bookoo company is thus licensed to digitize their works.

Hundreds of well-known writers had decided to work with Bookoo before the website was opened. Insiders say this will be helpful for protecting on-line intellectual properties and stopping illegal digital copies.

Logging on: www.bookoo.com.cn, one will be able to access information about bestsellers, book reviews, and cultural activities, as well as the latest on-line publications.
