Top Prosecutor Pledges Judicial Support in Developing China's WestChina's top prosecutor pledged April 6 to provide support for procuratorial bodies in the country's western areas."Support means providing equipment, personnel training, money, as well as political guidance," said Han Zhubin, procurator- general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SSP). Procuratorial bodies in China's western regions will focus on five major tasks: maintain social order and ethnic unity; help eliminate corruption in state-owned enterprises; improve law supervision over courts and the police, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of non-state economic entities. There are more than 1,000 procuratorates in China's west, accounting for one third of all the procuratorates in the country. SPP will pay special attention to upgrading ethics and professional proficiency level of prosecutors in western areas, said Han. A massive educational campaign will be launched for these prosecutors on the significance of developing China's western regions. Procuratorial bodies in developed coastal areas will be mobilized to provide support and help for their counterparts in the west.
