The air route from Pyongyang, capital of North KoreaShenyang, to Shengyang, capital city of northeast China's Liaoning Province, opened April 5.
Local sources said that an Air Koryo aircraft took off from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and landed at Shenyang's Taoxian International Airport at 10:30 a.m. today.
This is the second air route opened by DPRK carriers in China, following the Pyongyang-Beijing route that became operational in 1959.
The new air route will have two flights a week, on Wednesday and Saturday, and the flight will take one and a half hours.
DPRK aviation officials said the new route will become another bridge to deepen the friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and will further consolidate cooperation between the civil aviation departments of China and the DPRK.
Taoxian airport now has six regular international air routes.
