Australian Education Exhibition in BeijingRepresentatives from over 40 Australian educational organizations will gather in China this weekend to host the 2000 Australian Education Exhibition, designed to introduce more Chinese to the Australian system of higher education.The Expo will be held from April 7 to 9 at the Great Wall Hotel in Beijing and is sponsored by the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) and the Australian embassy. You Shaozhong, deputy secretary general of CEAIE said that the Expo is the largest exhibition on Australian education in China and many first-rate Australian education organizations will be attending. The Expo is an important part of the "2000 Australian Education Fair" which is to be held in Beijing and Shanghai at the same time. You noted that CEAIE and the Australian University President Commission will hold the Sino-Australian university president seminar in Shanghai on April 13, focusing on scientific management and university scientific parks. Up to now, over 10,000 students from China's mainland are studying in Australia. Last year, the Australian embassy issued over 4,000 visas for students to study in Australia. The number is expected to reach 6,000 this year. |
