Major Power Cooperation Agreement Signed at Trade Fair
An international power company and a Chinese natural gas power plant signed a major cooperation agreement on April 5 with a total investment of US$ 600 million in this capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
At the 2000 Investment and Trade Fair for Cooperation between East and West China, which opened on April 4, the 100-year-old Meiya Power Co. Ltd and the Shaanxi-based Jingbian Natural Gas Power Plant of the China Zhenglian-Sanbei Group agreed to construct two generator sets with natural gas as the fuel. The capacity of the generators will be 300,000 kw each.
Eric D'Esparbes, deputy chief financial officer of the Meiya Power Co. Ltd, said that the company has set up two power plants in northwest China's Gansu Province, and the plant in Shaanxi will go into operation within three years.
The northern part of Shaanxi, which borders Gansu Province and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, has an estimated 500 billion cu m of natural gas.
