Chinese Boxers Face Tough Challenge in Tournament

Only 3 days are left when The Third Asian Qualifying Boxing Tournament For Olympiad 2000 ended Tuesday's competition, and only half of the 10 Chinese boxers managed to go on fighting.

For them, Challenge is obvious, but opportunity still remains. On Tuesday, two Chinese boxers, Mai Kangde of 54kg category and Zhao Yong of 71kg category fought hard to win their bouts. Another two teammates were not so lucky to advance.

During the previous 3 days, Chinese boxers had won three bouts and lost three. Xu Xiaosong of 57kg category is no doubt the star of the Chinese team. He has passed two preliminary bouts and entered straightly to quarter-finals.

The rest days of the tournament will be decisive when quarter- finals, semi-finals and finals gets underway one after another. The rest of Asian quota of 68 Olympic boxing entry tickets will finally find its masters.

China already have 2 Olympic boxing qualifiers before the third leg of qualifying tournament. And Chinese boxers are still hopeful to get more entry tickets.
