Annan Announces Israeli Agreement to Withdraw Troops From South Lebanon

Israel will withdraw troops from south Lebanon as scheduled in accordance with Security Council Resolution 425, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan announced here Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters at the end of his meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister David Levy, Annan said, "The minister reaffirmed his government's decision to withdraw Israeli troops from southern Lebanon in accordance with Security Council Resolution 425, fully and without conditions."

Annan said that Levy had informed him that the withdrawal would occur in "one go" by the end of July. But he added that he was looking forward to a forma
