Central China's Henan Province has punished 1,400 officials over the last three years for levying illegal charges on enterprises, according to provincial officials. In the handling of 4,800 cases involving such levies on enterprises, the province has saved 190 million yuan for the enterprises concerned, the officials said.
Following the instructions of the State Council, the province has established special organizations to deal with illegal charges. In Luohe City, 44 retired officials were sent to 41 major enterprises to protect them against illegal charges.
Over the three years, the province canceled a total of 5,901 levies, saving nearly 1.7 billion yuan a year.
