This coastal city in northeast China's Liaoning Province exported 150 million yuan worth of software products in 1999, accounting for more than 30 percent of its combined software sales.
The products were mainly exported to Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and some European countries including Britain, local sources said.
The city's software enterprises are expanding their scales and the technical content of the products is also increasing, they said.
Dalian now has more than 6,000 software developers, many of whose employees have received special training in Japan or the United States.
