On-line Drug Store Sells Contraceptives"On-line Eden"--(http://202.102. 231.54/yidianyuan)-- is the first on-line store selling contraceptives and other sexual aids set up by the Pingdingshan Medicine and Trade Center.In the first two days, five people have bought products on-line. Zhou Dongjie, a chief official with the Center, said that the reason for founding such a on-line store is because "we have observed that many consumers are usually embarrassed to buy sexual aids directly from drug stores." The on-line store is projected to protect consumers privacy and provides a convenient way for shopping. Sexual aids and other medicines bought via the website can be delivered directly to buyers, normally within an hour if the buyers are in Pingdingshan. About 341 kinds of medicines, classified in six categories, including contraceptives and medicines to treat and cure venereal diseases, are available in the shop. Unlike the western people, Chinese are generally shy or conservative of talking about sex-related topics, even though the government has been promoting sex education in schools across China over the past decade. When China's first contraceptive-selling store opened cautiously in Beijing about a decade ago, it had to be closed from time to time because of strong opposition from local residents.
