NPC Chairman Li Peng Meets Thai Guests

Li Peng, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), and his wife Zhu Lin met with Sirilak Panbamrungkit, secretary general of the Thai House of representatives, and her party in Hangzhou Saturday.

Li said that China and Thailand not only have engaged in economic cooperation but also supported each other in political and diplomatic affairs.

He said that China's NPC and the Thai National Assembly have maintained good relations and conducted fruitful exchanges and cooperation.

Li said that these exchanges have further promoted the growth of friendship between the two countries.

Li also briefed the Thai guests on China's NPC and local legislative bodies and on China's current social and economic situation.

He asked Sirilak to convey his greetings to Thai National Assembly President Wan Muhammad Nor Matha and his wife and SpeakerMeechai Ruechupan and his wife upon her return home.

Sirilak said that she has got a deeper understanding about China's social development and the system of China's NPC through the current visit.

She said that she hopes that China and Thailand will increase bilateral relations and continue to build friendship between the two countries.

Sirilak is in China at the invitation of Secretary General of the NPC Standing Committee He Chunlin.
