Biggest Industrial Base for Building Materials is to be Developed in Wuhu
By constantly improving the environment to attract foreign investment the city of Wuhu in Anhui has become a new industrial base for building materials in China. Many building material products from this city ranked first in sales volume across China in 1999.
Recently Wuhu has invested billions of yuan to develop an International Building Material City in Wuhu so as to turn Wuhu into the biggest base of production, sales, and technological innovation of building materials in China.
Wuhu has so far an annual capacity of producing six million tons of cement. This year's production capacity will reach 8 to 10 million tons, thus making Wuhu the biggest cement production base in China. The production capacity of PVC tube and template has reached 60 thousand and 100 thousand tons respectively, the largest of its kind in Asia. The plaster splint project solely set up by a German company, 80 million square meters in area, was put into operation smoothly last year with the biggest volume of production and sales in China. In building material industry, Wuhu has seen a development into groups of medium-and-small enterprises with the big ones taking the lead, such as China Hailuo, German Kenaifu, Taiwan Huaya Plastics.
Wuhu Economic and Technological Development Zone is one of 32 state-level development zones in China. By taking the advantage of state-provided preferential policies, Wuhu has made a significant improvement in transportation, energy resources with its stress to be laid on developing new industries, such as new building materials, automobile and assorted parts, electronics and electric appliance.
