China Readjusts Central Bank's Currency Policy Committee
The Chinese State Council has recently readjusted the Currency Policy Committee of the People's Bank of China, the central bank.
The new committee is chaired by Dai Xianglong, Governor of the central bank. Liu Tinghuan, the central bank's vice-governor, has been appointed vice-chairman of the committee.
Members of the committee include Xiao Gang, also vice-governor of the central bank; Wang Chunzheng, the vice-minister of the State Development Planning Committee; Zhang Zhigang, the vice-minister of the State Economic and Trade Commission; and Jin Liqun, Vice-Minister of Finance.
Other members are Li Fuxiang, head of the State Administration of Foreign Exchanges; Zhou Xiaochuan, chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission; Ma Yongwei, chairman of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC); Liu Mingkang, president of the Bank of China; Wang Xuebing, president of the Construction Bank of China; and Wu Jinglian, a research fellow at the Development Research Center of the State Council and vice-chairman of an economic committee attached to the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee. The Currency Policy Committee acts as a consultant to the central bank on currency policies and meets four times a year.
