Chinese Computer Users Prefer Licensed Software

Yan Feng, a 22-year-old Shanghai college graduate, paid 12,012 yuan for the first Chinese version of Windows 2000 Professional at an online auction recently. Microsoft China Company has given Yan free life-time warranty on his software and other software versions that come out in the future. Gao Qunyao, manager of the company awarded Yan certificate to commend his devotion to the protection of licensed software. Yan said that the value of science and knowledge will become increasingly important as computers become a daily necessity for many Chinese people.

Zhu Binjie, who works online, also received free life-time Windows software service.

Latest figure show that thousands of Chinese version of Windows 2000 has been sold since March 20.

Worldwide software and relevant services sales have been rising at an annual rate of 15 percent. Sales have now reached annual sales of 360 billion US dollars. The Chinese software market has increased 30 percent annually with sales worth 2 billion US dollars.
