Chinese Liu Eyes Olympic Gold for ChinaWith a pair of newly-crowned NCAA titles, Chinese swimmer Liu Limin said a prayer to herself on her bithday: Never repeat the feat at Sydney Olympic Games as in Atlanta four years ago.Liu just returned from American Nevada University last Thursday to contest a berth of the Chinese Olympic team at the national swimming trial in mid May. Narrowly missing the gold in the women's 100 meters butterfly by 0.01 second to American golden-girl Amy Van Dyken, Liu burst into tears and was embraced by her coach Zhao Ge after she finished the event. Following a poor performance at the Chinese National Games in 1997, Liu went to Nevada for studying, where she swam under the distant-regime through E-mail made by her coach and national head coach Zhao from China. Liu won the first swimming gold medal for Nevada University at NCAA last year and took two more golds in the butterfly two weeks ago. Her two minutes 06.04 seconds in the 200 meters butterfly was the second best result of the world short course swimming this year. "I will try my best to accomplish my Olympic dream in Sydney," said the Chinese butterfly queen.
