Japan Aids China's Environmental Protection Project
The Japanese government March 29 offered 940 million yen ( about 9 million U.S. dollars) in aid to a Chinese environmental information network.
This gift will be used to purchase computers and software and to build a database for environmental protection departments in 39 Chinese cities.
The implementation of this aid project will improve the data collecting and processing capability of these cities, thus helping create a national environmental protection information network, according to a news release from China's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC).
MOFTEC's chief negotiator Long Yongtu and Japanese ambassador to China Sakutaro Tanino signed the agreement.
