The Beijing Daily Group announced its establishment March 28, bringing the number of China's newspaper groups to 15.
The Beijing Daily Group includes the Beijing Daily, Beijing Evening News, Beijing Morning Post, Beijing Suburbs Daily, Beijing Economic News, and Tongxin Publishing House.
The group will issue nearly two million newspapers daily, accounting for more than 60 percent of the total in Beijing. The Beijing Daily and Beijing Evening News are also on-line, greatly increasing their influence at home and abroad.
Authorities note that the establishment of this newspaper group will improve assets management, and combine the advantages of various types of newspapers.
