| Tuesday, March 28, 2000, updated at 09:54(GMT+8) Sci-Tech HKTA Opens New Visitor Service CenterThe Hong Kong Tourist Association (HKTA) opened its Visitor Information & Services Center on Hong Kong Island Monday in a move to offer better state- of-the-art services to tourists. The service center, located in the downtown Central District, covers some 3,000 square feet, compared with 700 square feet of the former site. Internet i CyberLink is introduced to offer 24- hour online travel information to visitors. The center also includes a conference room, an exhibition area, self-service information kiosks, television with DVD player and literature and poster racks. Speaking at the opening ceremony, HKTA Executive Director Amy Chan said the relocation of the Visitor Information & Service Center on Hong Kong Island is important to the HKTA's program of enhancing visitor facilities and services in Hong Kong's major tourism areas. "As a marketing body, the HKTA is committed to promoting Hong Kong abroad as the premier tourism destination in Asia, but we also are the driving force behind providing quality assistance at home," she said. The HKTA runs three visitor information & services centers in Hong Kong, with the rest two at the Hong Kong International Airport and Kowloon.
