8th China Roundtable Meeting Called in Beijing

A two-day meeting co-sponsored by British "Economist Meeting" and the Economic Study and Consultation Center of the MOFTAC, the 8th China Roundtable Meeting raised its curtain in Beijing on March 27.

The ongoing 8th China Roundtable meeting concentrates on discussions on development of telecom, information and e-commerce and investment potentialities in China, the largest telecom market known to the world.

Deputy Director of the State Economic and Trade Commission Zhang Zhigang attends the meeting together with leading personages from over 100 transnational companies throughout the world and China's largest companies in Beijing and Shanghai.

Affiliated to "Economists" Group, the Economists' Meeting organizes and holds roundtable meetings and high-level forums in various countries. It has established a network of such meetings all over the world so far. The Economists' Meeting and the Chinese government have jointly held annual roundtable meetings since 1993, with a variety of topic discussions held by leaders and experts from concerned departments of Chinese government and prominent transnational companies. The topics include China's economic reforms, planning and investment direction, market, finance and economic policies, and thus provided an opportunity for domestic and foreign investors to hold face-to-face talks with Chinese government officials.
