Putin Wins Presidential Election, Says Official

Russia's Acting President Vladimir Putin has won Sunday's presidential election, Central Election Commission's chief analyst told reporters Monday.

Dmitry Oreshkin also said the election is valid.

Latest preliminary figures showed that Putin has grabbed 52.41 percent out of the 92.58 percent of ballots counted at 8 a.m. Moscow Time (0400 GMT).

Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov remained in the second place with a vote of 29.56 percent, down from 29.61 percent about an hour ago.
