Danish Ties to be Celebrated

Denmark is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with China in May.

Danish Prime Minister Poul Nyrup Rasmussen will visit China at the invitation of Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji to strengthen bilateral ties, Danish Ambassador Christopher Bo Bramsen said yesterday.

"The Danish Days in China" - a series of events which cover education, commerce, sports and culture - will be open to the public in many large cities from April 29 to May 19.

During that time, the Danish Royal Ballet will also be on tour. A Danish design and architecture exhibition will be held.

A Danish football team, including the famous player Michael Laudrup, will compete against Chinese football teams.

Headmasters of Danish universities will come to China to promote bilateral educational exchanges.

"These activities will help our Chinese friends learn more about Denmark," said the ambassador.

The occasion will also be marked in Denmark, with a Chinese opera and concert.

Co-operation in trade, investment, agriculture, environment and energy will be further strengthened during Rasmussen's visit.

Also in the delegation will be Danish minister of agriculture, vice-minister of energy and environment and other business people.(China Dialy)
