President Jiang Zemin Congratulates Putin

Chinese President Jiang Zemin Monday congratulated Russia's acting President Vladimir Putin over his victory in Sunday's Russian presidential election.

In a message to Putin, Jiang said that on behalf of the Chinese government and people, and also in his own name, he expresses heartfelt congratulations to Putin and the Russian people on Putin's election as the president of the Russian Federation.

Jiang expects to work together with the Russian president-elect to expand and deepen the strategic cooperation between China and Russia to make the two countries "good neighbors, good partners and good friends."
