Fiber Cable to Link Xi'an, Chongqing

Construction of a fiber cable project linking Xi'an in northwest China with southwest China's major cities of Chengdu and Chongqing began on March 25.

The 1,400 km cable project, listed as a key national project, is designed to improve telecommunications services for the areas through which the cable runs.

The project is expected to play an important role in implementing the country's strategy to develop its western areas.
