P-COM Breaks New Way for China Telecom Market

P-COM Inc., Datang telecom technology co., ltd., PTIC Beijing P&T telephone equipment factory and other two corporations co-established a joint venture on march 10, bringing P-COM to a wider market in China.

The cooperation is to meet the crucial requirement of telecom carrier's network construction. Datang has high capability of radio manufacturing and is experienced in microwave market in China. As a new leading radio company, P-COM, Inc. develops, manufactures and markets network access system for the wireless telecommunications market worldwide. P-COM and Datang's cooperation will make P-COM's products more cost-effective and competitive.

LMDS, Local Multipoint Distribution Service, system is firstly developed by the P-COM and was successfully put into business by Winstar Telecommunication Inc. in 1999. LMDS provides highest degree, maximum capacity, point to multipoint, hi-reliable and full duplexing broadband access scheme, which meet end-user's increasing need of audio, video and data transmission solution in an economical and rapid way.

From May of 1999, P-COM and China Unicom Guangdong Branch started testing LMDS network in China. The testing lasted 10 months and was finally completed on Feb.17. All the tested items met the requirement of Unicom and BTSEQSPB and all other technical specifications. Thus so, The success in this 10-month test marks a milepost of utilizing LMDS as a new technology for network communications in China.
