Top Procurator Pledges Intensified Probe into White-Collar Crimes

China's top procurator has pledged that procuratorates throughout the country will step up their efforts to investigate white-collar crimes. Han Zhubin, procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, made the remark at a national conference of procuratorates for studying the advice of deputies of the National People's Congress (NPC) and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Han urged procuratorates at all levels to play a bigger supervisory role in response to proposals and suggestions raised at the recent annual sessions of the top legislature and top advisory body.

During the meetings, which were convened early this month, the lawmakers and advisors discussed the achievements and flaws of the procuratorates.

The procuratorates will try hard to improve their work, said the procurator-general, and he pledged to exert greater efforts to deal with major criminal cases strictly in accordance with law.
