Talks between China and the United States on human rights have been suspended, said Sun Yuxi, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, here Thursday afternoon at a regular press conference. "The US should truly give up being confrontational and return to dialogue," said Sun, adding that there are differences between China and the United States on human rights issues. The differences should be resolved through dialogue according to the principles of equality and mutual respect, said Sun. Sun called on the U.S. to correct its erroneous decision of initiating an anti-China resolution at the UN human rights conference to be held in Geneva. "China has made great efforts to improve people's life and protect human rights," Sun said, adding that China at present has the best human rights record. |
