Tanzania Welcomes more Chinese Investment: Tanzanian PM

Tanzanian Prime Minister Frederick T. Sumaye said here today that Tanzania welcomes more Chinese investment.

He made the remark while attending a seminar on trade and economic cooperation between China and Tanzania hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Sumaye said that the Tanzanian government is always committed to promoting trade and economic cooperation between Tanzania and China and will do its best to help Chinese investors in his country.

He also expressed his gratitude for the Chinese government's support and aid to Tanzania over the past decades. Tanzanian officials in charge of foreign investment briefed the Chinese business representatives on the investment environment in Tanzania, and business people from the two countries had wide- ranging discussions on programs of common interest at the seminar. Sumaye arrived in Beijing today to begin a six-day working visit to China at the invitation of Premier Zhu Rongji.
