China's Biggest Green Battery Production Center Set up

China's biggest environmentally- friendly battery production center was set up in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, in southwest China.

The center, known as the Changhong Battery Industrial Park, is capable of producing about 300 million pieces of environmentally- friendly batteries, valued at over 500 million yuan (about 60.9 million US dollars) with four production lines imported from Japanese electronics giant Toshiba.

The investment in the initial stage of development of the center totaled 300 million yuan.

The park specializes in the development and production of alkaline storage batteries, and is the largest agglomeration-type battery center in Asia.

The major investor is China's biggest television producer, Changhong Electronic Group Co. Ltd.
