Ceramics Sector Booming in China

China's ceramics has a long history, and has recently been enjoying a new momentum as the industry expects to produce 9.9 billion pieces of ceramics products by the end of this year.

The country has been actively developing new and high technologies and equipment in a bid to enhance ceramics production, said Liu Jingzhou, deputy-head of the Building Materials Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

To date, the country has developed more than 1,000 daily-use ceramics enterprises nationwide, which export 3.96 billion pieces of ceramics products annually, ranking first in the world.

The country has found markets for its ceramics products in over 150 countries and regions, with annual export volume hitting 1.9 billion US dollars, the official added.

He noted that China has now developed a group of key ceramics production bases nationwide, including Tangshan and Handan in north China's Hebei Province, and Zibo, Yixing, and Jingdezhen in Shandong, Jiangsu and Jiangxi provinces, respectively.

A sound and comprehensive ceramics industrial system has taken shape nationwide, involving research and design institutes, colleges, and a large group of specialized ceramics enterprises.

At the same time, the country's ceramics enterprises are actively introducing advanced technologies and equipment to reduce pollution, cut energy consumption, and improve the technological process and product quality, the official added.
