China's Highest Underground Waterfall Found in Chongqing

China's highest underground waterfall was recently discovered in Shijiagou of Longtang Village, Fuling District of Chongqing Municipality in southwest China. The discovery has roused great attention from a number of geologists and experts in tourism industry.

The waterfall as reported shaped like an arc, is 30-meter wide and 34-meter high. The spot where the waterfall falls is dotted with craggy rocks in the shape of canine teeth. The place is permeated with evaporation and sprinkles, and what is more is that the tumbling waterfall sounds just like a thunderbolt, presenting a spectacular atmosphere. Moreover, not far from the above-said one there are several other underground cascades, each being over 10-meter high, forming a fascinating group of waterfalls.

According to Professor Zhu Shunzhi, an expert on caves and geological science in Chongqing, this underground waterfall is something rare in China either in terms of height or width. Besides, a three-tiered waterfall was also found in this area, setting a new record of suchlike waterfalls in terms of the height. It's 10 meters higher than the former one with a drop of 152 meters.
