Profile of Deng for IOC Membership

Deng Yaping, one of China's most prominent table tennis player, was nominated the candidate for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) member. The candidates for election to the Athletes commission will be held during the Summer Games in Sydney in September. Here is her profile:

Height: 1.50 meters

Weight: 53 kilograms

Born: Henan Province, China

Current Statue: member of IOC athletes committee, studying in the Nottingham University.

Achievements:

In the World Championships, the primier member of five-time team champions between 1989-1997, three-time world singles champion in 1991, 1995 and 1997, and three-time doubles champion in 1989, 1995 and 1997.

Winning single's and doubles golds in the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 in her first appearance in the Games, defending the double golds in the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. The only Olympian defending the golds in the table tennis competitions Winning 18 world titles in the World Championships, World Cups and Olympic Games since 1989.

Six-time year-ending world number one player between 1993-1998.
