China to Develop Tourism Resources at the Head of Yellow River

Recently a tourism development project aiming at presenting the world with a natural geographic view peculiar in the locality and an old religious folk-custom was launched in Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province. The natural landscape and humane culture at the head of the Yellow River rarely known by the outside world will be exposed to the world in the years to come.

The Yellow River, known as the "Mother River" of the Chinese nation, takes its source at the northern foothills of the Bayan Kara Mountains in the center of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau with an average altitude of above 4200 meters. Found here is a wonderful landscape presenting a great number of snow-capped peaks and widespread glaciers, crisscrossed rivulets and starry lakes, virgin forests as well as vast expanse of grasslands, the wonderful haunts for great species of rare wild animals. In addition, spreading here is also a lot of age-old Lamaist temples with unique, simple yet attractive Tibetan customs.

The comprehensive exploitation of the tourism resources launched at the head of the Yellow River will for the first time show tourists not only the peculiar natural wonders, but also many Lamaist temples mystic to overseas tourists in the localities.

According to a prefect of the Prefecture, the local government will invest a huge sum of money to open three new travel routs in the area of the Yellow River head in three to five years to come.

It's reported that apart from the three important itineraries, the Prefecture also has a plan to build a skiing field in the zone of snow-capped mountains to meet the needs of ski fanciers.
