Electricity, Water, Marsh Gas and Wired TV Available in Villages of Yao Nationality

Recently, family members of Long Guoying, a 60 year-old villager of Baimian Yao Village in Sishui Township, Multinational Autonomous County of Longsheng, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, were sitting around the heating stove, drinking wine and watching TV. As the guests just sat down, the daughter-in-law who had just came over to Long's home was making youcha (flour fried in beef fat with sugar and sesame for drinking) with water boiled by marsh gas.

Long Guoying has a family of seven and an annual income of well over 10,000 yuan. Long's family is among the first families in Dayaoshan Mountain where electric power, water, methane gas and wired TV are available.
