Sources from Shenzhen Subway Company say that after repeated careful designs and feasibility studies, the formula of the first phase project design for the Shenzhen Subway has been finally mapped out. The subway is estimated to open to traffic in June 2000, by then, this 19,468-km-long subway that spans the east and west of Shenzhen will run straight to Hong Kong. At present, Civil engineering work related to the subway, which is to the great concern of the local residents, has been started in succession. The first-phased subway project , which involves a total investment of 10.585 billion yuan, mainly covers No.1 line (extending from Luohu to Shenzhen Huangtian International Airport) and No. 4 line (from Huanggang Port to Guanlan).The subway will connect Luohu Station on No.1 line and Huanggang Station on No.4 line respectively with Kowloon-Guangzhou railway and western railway of Hong Kong, a total of 18 stops will be set up along the subway. Personages with the Shenzhen Subway Company estimated that the first phase of the subway will be completed and opened to traffic in June 2000 at the latest, and will be linked with Lok Ma Chau-Sheung Shui, the branch line of Kowloon-Guangzhou Railway. |
