Zhejiang Takes Measures To Protect Children

Concerned departments and schools in east China's Zhejiang Province have been urged to take proper measures to guarantee the safety of local primary and middle school students, according to a provincial teleconference on safety in production.

Lu Zushan, deputy governor, challenged Communist Party and government officials at all levels to pay great attention to safety in production and the safety of the general public. Lu especially stressed the importance of teaching students about safety in everyday life.

To protect the lives of children, all departments, organizations and work units will be forbidden to employ primary and middle school students to serve as honor guards during grand celebrations in future. On such occasions, the sending up of hydrogen balloons in a great number is also banned. As the spring outing season approaches, all concerned educational departments have been urged the setting up of complete safety management systems in schools, and called on schools to work out preventive measures to better protect students when they organize them to go on trips.
