Bayi Rockets Win Sixth CBA Champion

Li Nan scored 31 points and Wang Zhizhi added 28 as Bayi Rockets crushed Shanghai Sharks 115-93 in the third match of the best-of-five Finals of the Chinese first division basketball league, retaining the title for the fifth time.

The Rockets won the two previous games 116-94 and 113-10.

The defending champion overcame a shaky start to make it 22-22 with five minutes to go in the first quarter, which ended 35-29 in the Rockets' favor.

The visiting Sharks knew the victory will not be theirs after trailing 54-35 in the halftime.

Chinese national center Wang Zhizhi (2.12m), who last June became the first Asian picked in the NBA draft, was overshadowed by the 1.98m teammate Li, who scored seven three-pointers.

Yao Ming, who stands 2.25 meters, led the Sharks with 29 points and 40 rebounds.
