Sunday, March 19, 2000, updated at 10:31(GMT+8) World Iran's Revolutionary Guards Slam U.S. Overture As InterferenceIran's hardline Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, or IRGC, has slammed the latest U. S. overture for reopening the long-frozen relations as an attempt to intervene in Iran's domestic affairs. In a recent speech at the American-Iranian Council, US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright announced the lifting of sanctions on non-oil products, and invited Tehran to enter a " new relationship" with Washington. But the ban on all oil products remain intact. However, Albright also renewed Washington's concern on Iran's stance on key issues of the weapons of mass destruction, terrorism and the Middle East peace process. She added the political developments in Iran have not caused the IRGC or the Intelligence Ministry to get out of the terrorism business. กก Albright's remarks angered the powerful IRGC that has its independent ground, air and naval forces to safeguard Iran's Islamic revolution, which toppled the former Shah regime.
