Confucius popular on Chinese website

The world's first website devoted to Confucius, one of China's greatest thinkers and educators, has been listed among the most popular Chinese websites with over 360, 000 visitors.

The website at www.china kongzi.com was created in September last year by the Jining Information Port in east China's Shandong Province, where Confucius was born and lived. It coincided with the philosopher's 2,550 birthday anniversary.

The cyber tribute to Confucius includes biographical information about the man and his descendants, texts of some of his works, and literature written by Confucians.

Surfers to the site can leave messages and comments or register for commemorative activities on the net.

Confucius' doctrines have been passed down through the ages and continue to influence the Chinese community.
