Three Local Officials Set Keynote on Greenery Construction

The three local officials are Li Jiating, Song Fatang and Li Zhaochao as delegates representing Yunnan, Guangxi and Heilongjiang respectively to attend the 9th NPC 3rd Session concluded last night in Beijing. When interviewed before their leaving from the capital they all just use the two words "greenery construction".

According to them, a "Green Economic Power", de facto "Green Passages" and a "Green Food Producer" are going to be built by people in the three provinces of Yunnan, Guangxi and Heilongjiang, respectively. As things stand in China today, it is not accidental for local officials like them to set their keynote on local "greenery construction" so as to build up the Chinese economy.

Li Jiating, a delegate from Yunnan, said greenery construction must be regarded as one to top the work agenda of the province and see to it that the province's economy is to be developed by making most of its local resources. For a superior ecological environment favored by a unique climate, with plenty green resources, it enjoys a worldwide fame as China's "botanical garden", "Kingdom of animals" and a " Kingdom of herbs". When doing a good job of Yunnan's greenery construction and building it into a green land with a powerful green economy developed according to the great strategy for opening up the western areas, it will greatly contribute to China's economic construction, Li said.

Governor Song Fatang said on behalf of Heilongjiang that the province has its advantage in a vast expanse of fertile land with a favorable ecological environment suitable for developing green food production. "We will make green food production our breakthrough point to turn Heilongjiang into a great agricultural producer in China", Song stressed. "So far, we have set up nine large bases with 128 green food species developed. Modern green name brand food processing has already been developed on a large scale in the province", Song said.

Li Zhaochao, delegate from Guangxi, told that they will launch a large-scale "green project", according to which a multitude of "green passages" on river banks and road sides will be built to turn the whole of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region into a land under the cover of greenery. He said that by acting on the strategy for opening up the western areas they will do planned work in returning mountain farmlands to forestry, planting trees and growing grass for a superior ecological environment to be built in Guangxi.
