Wednesday, March 15, 2000, updated at 10:09(GMT+8) Sci-Tech China Publishes First Anti-Virus Software for Windows 2000Computer Associates (China) Software Company Tuesday published China's first anti-virus software named KILL 2000 for Windows 2000. The company cooperated with China InfoWorld newspaper and Software World Magazine to carry its free software to their readers with their Info CD and PC Worker compact disc. The new software's virus-scanning efficiency is about 30 percent faster than common anti-virus software. When handling real-time system supervision, the software also uses less system resources -- about 1,800 K bytes of EMS memory compared to the common software's 3,000 K. This greatly increases the computer's operation speed and allows more programs to work simultaneously. Through the special websites on the Internet, computer users can get free upgraded versions of the anti-virus software from time to time. The company has extended the original domestic computer virus detecting network to cover 40 countries by cooperating with the U.S. software corporation Computer Associates.
