Super-Thin Silicon Steel Sheet Developed in Wuhan

Wuhan Iron and Steel Co. Ltd. based in central China's Hubei Province, has developed 0.15-mm-thick oriented silicon steel sheet, considered to be the thinnest in the country.

The product passed State testing and has shown noticeable energy-efficient characteristics, said the company.

The company is also capable of producing oriented silicon steel sheet with a thickness of 0.2 mm, according to the sources.

Oriented silicon steel sheet is used to make iron core material for medium- and high-frequency transformers, magnetic amplifiers and adapters used in equipment for national defense, aerospace industry, aviation and telecommunications services.
