Fuzhou to Host Cross-Straits Sci-Tech Achievements Fair

Fuzhou is reported to hold its May Cross-Straits Sci-Tech Achievements Trade Fair to attract investors from abroad and outside Fujian. In the month-long activity of May, the fair will have its focus mainly on efforts to attract investments to developing "cross-Straits sci-tech" construction items in Fuzhou.

The trade fair is to be sponsored by Fujian provincial government under support of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information Industry and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. There will be about 1,000 Chinese and foreign transnational companies, high-tech enterprises, risk investment institutions and around 200 colleges, universities and research units that will represent with their latest products and science and information items put on display at the fair. According to plan, infrastructure construction and agriculture items will need to invite a total of 7.3 billion yuan of investment. With these, the fair will also arrange four major types of investment items as following to attract new investors: high technology and industrialization items, applied hi-tech achievements used for transformation of traditional industrial projects, industrial undertakings with market potential, and construction of business-thriving towns.

It is reported that Fuzhou has planned by holding the month-long May Cross-Straits Sci-Tech Achievements Trade Fair to build itself into an important cross-Straits communication and transit base of people, material, capital and information and a center to attract investment from abroad and outside Fujian. By May, it will be the sixth of like trade fairs that have been held in Fuzhou. The fair will by its holding at Fuzhou build a bridge to connect Taiwan with the Chinese mainland for developing closer "nonstop" business ties across the Taiwan Straits.
